In April of 2003, St. Luke Community Hospital in Ronan, was awarded a Rural Health Specialty Clinic Outreach Grant by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The purpose of the grant is to establish specialty physician clinics in several rural communities in Western Montana and Eastern Idaho.
The goals of the grant are to (1) improve the quality of life and health status in the region by establishing a sustainable, integrated system linking rural primary care physicians and their local hospitals with consulting/ visiting specialists; (2) transition rural healthcare in the service area from the traditional "hub and spoke" model to a "concentric sphere" model, where rural primary care providers and their local health systems are established as their community's center of care, with several visiting specialists providing routine, scheduled clinics in the rural community.
Monida has been pleased to coordinate this Grant Project with the following Grant Partners:
St. Lukes Community Hospital, Ronan MT
Barrett Hospital and Health Network, Dillon MT
Mineral County Hospital, Superior MT
Clark Fork Valley Hospital, Plains MT
